Welcome to the Brunk Guest House

Brunk Guest House is a private cottage located on 34 acres just 5 miles south of Cortez, Colorado, an excellent home base for those visiting the Four Corners area. It is self catered with a beautiful courtyard as well as a rear patio where you can relax at the end of a day of exploration. Gardens surround the house and you are welcome to stroll through ours and see the changing bloom.

There are spectacular views through every window of the Sleeping Ute Mountain to the west and the large mesa to the rear of the property that are always changing with our lighting and weather. Warm touches fill the house including walnut floors, large windows, a copper trimmed gas fireplace and textiles and art from our travels around the world. An antique dining table allows you to watch the sunrise over the mesa and gives you a unique view of the hummingbirds just two feet away at the feeder outside the window. The full kitchen is well equipped for those who enjoy cooking and there are fresh herbs for your use in the gardens.

We have been in the area for 20 years and really enjoy answering questions and introducing visitors to our amazing part of the world. There is an extensive library with a number of regional guides and books on area history. We have compiled information to create a comprehensive local guide filled with recommendations covering coffee shops, groceries, museums, shopping, dining and more. The library also contains a large number of our favorite fiction and non-fiction books as well as numerous movies and CDs. When you are ready to stretch your legs, walk to the back of our property and take a stroll along the canal with views north to Lone Cone Peak and the La Plata Mountains.

Wonderful day trips can be made to Telluride, Durango and Moab and the drive between Silverton and Ouray on the “MIllion Dollar Highway” is dramatic and unforgettable.

Many of our guests have said  “If only we could stay longer!”
